December 2017: IP Office Techs is pleased to announce that we have successfully integrated our smartphones into our IP Office System (release 10.1) at our location. It connects whether on the local network or through the Internet when we are outside of the office. We are ready to provide this exciting feature for you too.
Below is a quick video we made to give you an idea of how the app looks on an Android phone, along with the features.
We are using it as a true roaming VoIP phone, the call control and audio come over the IP connection and not the cellular network, therefore calls placed to our extensions come in instantly - no relaying through the celliular network. Our setup mirrors our in-house deskphone, whearas incoming calls to our extension ring both the standard IP or digital deskphone and the smartphone simultaneously.
There are some pre-requisites for this useful feature, including at least a release 9.1 upgrade, and power user or telecommuter licenses. A second IP address and domain or sub-domain is required for external registration, and some patience. We will need to work with your network people closely to meet all the network and security certificate requirements. But it's worth it. You will also need a separate server to host the Avaya one-x application server, and that is part of the Preferred Package, which may be an upgrade for you. If you have the IP 500V2 PBX with Preferred/Advanced Edition or IP Office Server Edition, you are most of the way there.
Imagine picking up your group calls or directed calls anywhere - at the same time as the phones ring at the office. Other people that are hooked in via IP Office One-X clients on their smart phones have visible status indicators on your smartphone. You will be able to hold, park, transfer or pickup a parked call from anywhere you have an Internet connection. Voicemail is a breeze and call history is extensive. This solution is ready for prime time with your road warriors.
